Crafty Bastards

Union Market

Crafty Bastards is an annual craft show held at Union Market! I dropped by to check out the scene and very likely blow my entire paycheck. (SPOILER ALERT: I did. And my regret counter is currently at 0.)

Since it was my first time attending I have to admit I didn’t really know where to even start so I headed toward the closest most relatable thing there: prints of food.

Marcella Art and Illustration
Gorgeous prints and illustrations by Marcella.

Definitely walked away with a yummy sushi print, an awesome coffee print and a calendar from Marcella. Can’t wait to hang them in my office! There were so many cute and kitschy little shops I didn’t know where to look. The best part is that everything there was 100% handmade! I could ask about each and every single ingredient and the vendors happily explained where each component of their products came from. Anyone who knows me knows I’m pretty gung-ho about shopping small and buying from locally owned small businesses so this was a full-on kid in a candy store experience for yours truly!

Red Staggerwing

I’ve grown tired of lugging what is essentially an overnight bag on the metro with me so I grabbed a fabulous little plaid tote from the fine folks at Red Staggerwing.

I went over to A Little Teapot Designs to grab a lotion bar for a friend and was stopped in my tracks by the shop owner herself spinning yarn. Y’know. In the middle of the craft fair. NBD. I picked up a few things for my boyfriend’s sister and other assorted friends but  still wanted more; more time to look, more time to chat… just more! This is definitely a show I want to try and get into next year ❤

Stay crafty you magnificent bastards!
