Like Trying to Sneak a Sunrise Past a Rooster

Stoney Creek Country Store

I got to spend this past weekend with the wonderful owners of the Stoney Creek Country Store! The sign above bears the logo I doodled for them nearly a year ago now.

We came down to spend time with our friends as well as check out the Apple Butter Festival.

From their page:
Columbus Day weekend in October — Two days of music, crafts, food and games starring apple butter in kettles you can stir –– all along the historic streets and park of Berkeley Springs. Starts with a Saturday morning parade. More than 100 vendors plus local shops.

I’ve only been to a few outdoor festivals so I was really looking forward to this. All of my selling has always been done inside convention centers or safely under communal tents so seeing everyone under their own individual 10x10s was a little alarming (what if it rains? What about the wind?). But I was worried for no reason the weather was gorgeous!

We spent a lot of time ambling around the tiny town of Berkley Springs and I snapped picture after picture of the lovely layout and typography of each and every sign! Insert font nerd jokes here but we had a wonderful time.

Everything from wood burning, to candle and jewelry making was handmade and local. I went home with 3 jars of different flavored apple butter (2 for the in-laws one for my own family) and a bunch of hand made candles. I’m already looking forward to participating next year!

We also spent a ton of time just traipsing all over the beautiful property. Stoney Creek is right next to the Great Cacapon river and provides a gorgeous view.

Stoney Creek Country Store celebrated it’s one year anniversary on October 17! It’s so cool to know the little rooster I doodled for my friend is now a year old!

Congrats Stoney Creek Country Store I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
